With temperatures lowering and the winter season moving in, it’s time to talk about the importance of maintaining the humidity in your home. Maintaining a healthy humidity (between 40-60%) inside your home this winter will bring many benefits!

The cold and dry winter air can cause chapped skin and lips, dried-out sinuses, irritated vocal cords, dry coughs and many other irritating symptoms that interfere with everyday life. Having a humidifier in your home can help relieve some of these issues.

Increased moisture levels from your humidifier could help lighten cold and flu symptoms like cough, stuffiness, congestion and a sore throat. Warm mist, steam and cool mist humidifiers are great for increasing the moisture in your home. A couple of great warm mist options would be the DUET and the MESA. While the Altus and Ozark are our go-to steam mist units, if you’ve got children or pets we recommend cool mist units like the DUET, Lanai, or NOVA.

Humidifiers are a great way to bear the winter weather as long as they are properly maintained. Keeping your humidifier clean is paramount for a happy and healthy winter!
