Green and white humidifier on a wooden shelf, surrounded by colorful books. Text reads "Going Green & Humidifiers." Cozy setting.

AIRCARE humidifiers have many benefits to your health. The added moisture in the air helps keep skin from drying and cracking. It helps alleviate allergy symptoms and snoring problems. It can eliminate itchy eyes and nosebleeds. But humidifiers also have environmental benefits!

Using humidifiers in the home helps reduce energy usage in two ways. Firstly, moisture in the air helps to “trap in” the warmth. Heat dissipates more quickly from dry air, so keeping a humidifier running maintains the warmth in your home for longer.

Also, humid air “feels” warmer to our bodies. You will be able to turn down the thermostat on your heating system, while still feeling comfortable. According to Direct Energy, by turning down the thermostat just 1 degree, you can save about 1% in energy savings. If you are able to turn down the thermostat by 3 degrees, that is a 3% savings!

This savings may not look like much, but add it up over an entire heating season, then multiply it over a few years, and the savings can become significant. Not only is this saving money on monthly utility bills, but it is also creating an overall energy usage reduction. Just think if all of your neighbors turned down their thermostats 3 degrees. Multiply that by your town, region, and state. The energy reduction could be significant!

The amount of water that is used to create electricity another point to consider. According to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory study, the consumption of water in electrical production needs to be taken into account when looking at saving on resources. Reducing electrical demands can help protect this vital natural resource.

There is no question that humidifiers can make improvements in our lives. They improve our health, eliminate static electricity, and protect our valuable wooden instruments and furnishings. Knowing that they can also do a small part to save the planet is awesome!
